Wasted Time or Divine Time?
September 6, 2006
Dear Friend,

What is this idea of "wasted time" all about? It's really about believing that some activities are more worthy of our time than others. For example, working hard is being productive and therefore worthwhile while watching TV is a waste of time. But can time really be "wasted?"

The impact of believing that time can be wasted is that life is divided in our minds into time when, according to our beliefs, we approve of what we are "using" the time for and time when we don't approve. It simply creates a forum for judgment of ourselves and a sense of never quite being able to live up to an ideal we have invented.

Consider the idea that time is never wasted. Each moment is as precious as every other and whatever is in each moment is perfect. This week, accept each moment and yourself in each moment with gratitude, whatever you are or aren't doing!

"To Risk"
leaves

To laugh is to risk appearing a fool,
To weep is to risk appearing sentimental
To reach out to another is to risk involvement,
To expose feelings is to risk exposing your true self
To place your ideas and dreams before a crowd is to risk their loss
To love is to risk not being loved in return,
To hope is to risk despair,
To try is to risk to failure.
But risks must be taken because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.
The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing is nothing.
He may avoid suffering and sorrow,
But he cannot learn, feel, change, grow or live.
Chained by his servitude he is a slave who has forfeited all freedom.
Only a person who risks is free.
The pessimist complains about the wind;
The optimist expects it to change;
And the realist adjusts the sails.

Some thoughts to ponder...

"Joy is what happens when we allow ourselves to recognize how good things really are."

Marianne Williamson
Author of A Return To Love

"The master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his information and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence at whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he's always doing both."

James A. Michener
